Palladian Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Palladian Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

A very pretty aromatic wine with dark cherry, boysenberry, doris plum and spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. So fragrant almost Pinot like.

The body is a medium bodied and colour pale crimson. The balance and seamless nature is extraordinary given that it’s 100 % pure Cabernet Sauvignon.

Soft, plush and long with Blackcurrant and plums and rhubarb and a finish that is extraordinarily long. A seductively textured wine with soft papery tannins.

A wine that will give many a lot of pleasure.

Reviews and awards

"This is right up there with any 2019 vintage cabernet I have tasted from Margaret River. There’s power in spades, but it delivers with finesse and stylish refinement. Leafy black olive and dark fruits mingle in an exciting bouquet. Then the palate delivers with gathering momentum as it drives long. This is a classy cabernet."

"Specially designed puncheons allow fermentation to take place in the barrel, the fruit loaded whole and plunged and pumped over at will. After 40 days the contents are tipped into a basket press. It's beautifully textured and structured."

-James Halliday, The Weekend Australian, 96 pts

"What a lovely wine. The 2019 Palladian Cabernet Sauvignon has the three P's to success: poise, perfume and precision. I don't think that's how the saying goes... but it should. The mid-palate fruit is gently fleshy and satisfying, and everything is in place in this supremely elegant wine."

-Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate, 95 pts

"A lot of baking spice here, nutmeg in particular, plum and dark cherry, some mint chocolate. It’s medium to full-bodied, fleshy and grainy, oak shows its hand, though the fruit is up to the task. Kind of nutty too, and has something of a ‘Super Tuscan’ quality about it, though don’t mind me, with plum/cherry and new leather rolling on a finish that’s long, closing with chamois-like tannin. Excellent."

-Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 95 pts

"A juicy and balanced cab with redcurrant, currant bush and rose petal. Medium to full body. Medium, round tannins and a focused finish. Drinkable, but better in two or three years. Screw cap."

-James Suckling, 93 pts

"Moderate depth of colour with a tinge of purple and aromas of tobacco, cedar, dried herbs and humus, and the palate is elegantly framed, with medium-full body and a savouriness imparted largely by an abundance of drying, powdery tannins. Slightly forward. Not a try-hard wine, but elegant and balanced, while retaining structure that will see it age well."

-Huon Hooke, 94 pts
